AHEC Partners
The Larner College of Medicine AHEC Program is a statewide network of community and academic partners working together through two regional AHECs and the UVM AHEC Program Office to improve the health of Vermonters.
Vermont AHEC works to promote rural health educational opportunities and address health care workforce challenges unique to specific areas of the state through community-based initiatives. Each AHEC is a not-for-profit, independent organization governed by a community-based board that includes community leaders and health care practitioners from the area. Together, the University of Vermont AHEC Program and the two regional AHECs work with community and academic partners to accomplish their goals.
VT AHEC covers the entire State of Vermont. The Northern VT AHEC started in 1997 and is located in St. Johnsbury working with the counties of Caledonia, Essex, Franklin, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans, and Washington. The Southern VT AHEC started in 1999 and is located in Springfield. SVTAHEC works with the counties of Addison, Bennington, Rutland, Windham, and Windsor. The UVM AHEC Program, located in Burlington serves Chittenden County.
