On February 20, 2020, Jill Jemison was named assistant dean for technology/chief information officer for the UVM Larner College of Medicine. In an announcement to the Larner community, Dean Richard L. Page, M.D., noted Jemison's "longstanding and expanded role in our education and research missions. She is a transformative leader and advocate for technology, with impact throughout our College," said Page.

Jemison joined the College in 2002 to lead the transition to online learning and was named manager of online learning in 2004. Since 2010, she has led the College’s Technology Services team, overseeing infrastructure, programming, education technology, audio-visual services and desktop computing and support. She is also a faculty mentor in the Public Health Projects course for medical students.

Nationally, Jemison serves on the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Information Resources (GIR) Diversity and Inclusion Work Group. She has previously chaired the AAMC GIR Steering Committee and was founding chair of the AAMC GIR Education Technology Working Group. In 2015-2016, she was the first female faculty director of the AAMC GIR Leadership Institute (now AAMC Leading Information Technology in Academic Medicine). She was an invited program member for the 2019 Annual Conference of Educause, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of higher education through the use of information technology. 

She serves the university community as a member of the Online Learning/Distance Education Advisory Board, the UVM Center for Computer Security and Privacy Advisory Board and the IT governance committees. She is also a founding member of the UVM Health Network Data Governance Council. Currently, Jemison chairs the Data Task Force for the College's LCME accreditation efforts and is guiding the creation of a clinical research data repository for expanded clinical research.

In this new role, she will continue to report to Senior Associate Dean for Finance and Administration, Brian Cote, MBA.
