Lee Rosen, Ph.D.

Lee Rosen, Ph.D., has been appointed interim associate dean for students at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, effective August 3, 2020. He replaces Christa Zehle, M.D., who served as associate dean for students since 2012 and accepted the position of senior associate dean for medical education on March 9, 2020.  

Rosen, a licensed clinical psychologist, has served the Larner College of Medicine since 2008, first as course director of the Professionalism, Communication, and Reflection course, and since 2015 as the director of student wellbeing, with responsibilities including student academic achievement and personal health and wellbeing. He will bring his knowledge of medical education and expertise on student support and wellbeing to this interim position while a search is conducted for a new associate dean for students.

An assistant professor of psychiatry and adjunct assistant professor of clinical practice in the Department of Psychological Science, Rosen has been a member of the UVM faculty since 1998 and is supervising psychologist at Vermont Psychological Services, a training unit of the Department of Psychological Science. In 2016, he was inducted as a Master Teacher into the Larner College of Medicine Teaching Academy. He serves the Larner community on several important committees, including the Larner College of Medicine Wellness Committee and LCME Subcommittee 12 – medical Student Health Services, Personal Counseling, and Financial Aid Services.

In his new position, Rosen provides leadership for the Medical Student Services Team, working closely with Connecticut campus Ellen Kulaga, M.D., assistant dean for students, and Vermont campus Interim Assistant Deans for Students Prema Menon, M.D., Ph.D., and Shaden Eldakar-Hein, M.D., Ph.D., and collaborates with students and College leadership regarding medical student services, goals and outcomes. He will continue to serve as director of student wellbeing as the Office of Medical Student Education works to expand and develop student wellness programs.  

Rosen received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Oberlin College, a Master of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Ph.D. in psychological sciences from the University of Vermont in 1998.
