(OCTOBER 30, 2024) Linda Klumpers, Ph.D., M.Sc., research assistant professor of pharmacology, provided a presentation Wednesday at a meeting for a working group convened by the Cannabis Control Board (CCB) to make recommendations to improve the medical cannabis program in Vermont as part of legislation known as Act 65, according to Green Mountain Vermont Cannabis News.

Vermont cannabis regulators are tasked with coming up with recommendations on medical issues and endorsements. Under consideration is an educational mandate for budtenders ahead of July 1, when retailers are anticipated to start obtaining medical-use endorsements.

Klumpers is the founder of the educational platform Cannify, which offers information on the advantages and risks of consuming cannabis. Free to use at cannify.us, the quiz can be customized to adapt to local rules and regulations as well as products specific to the local market. Symptoms and personal characteristics can be entered in the quiz, and participants then receive information about the scientific literature, available products, and recommended administration methods.

As reported previously, Klumpers said the state could get licensing rights to the platform to make it available through the CCB. Cannabis Control Board Chairman James Pepper said the requirement could be handled within his agency similar to the way the state approaches liquor and lottery.
