Trishnee Bhurosy, PhD

Dr. Trishnee Bhurosy, Assistant Professor of Nutrition at the University of Vermont (UVM) and an Associate Member of the UVM Cancer Center, recently received two prestigious awards:  

1. The Mohammad R. Torabi Early Career Outstanding Alumni Award, presented annually to a graduate of the Indiana University’s School of Public Health-Bloomington and its prior incarnation as Health, Physical Education, and Recreation who has demonstrated notable achievement in public health community outreach and engagement.  

2. A prestigious faculty fellowship from the North Star Collective, a semester-long fellowship created by Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) faculty, for BIPOC faculty in New England. Grounded in tenets of reparative justice, the Fellowship promotes racial trauma healing by providing a nourishing community of care, mentorship, and professional development for BIPOC faculty in all fields. 

Dr. Bhurosy is a socio-behavioral scientist whose research evaluates determinants of food and nutrition insecurity in vulnerable populations and seeks to generate evidence to guide interventions that address food security and nutritional support.
