LICThe Year-Long Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship

What’s it been like to do an LIC – Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship – for Larner medical students at Hudson Headwaters Health Network (HHHN) in upstate New York? At a September 1 info session, three third-years shared tales of their experiences working as part of a multidisciplinary team in inpatient, outpatient and urgent care settings. HHHN includes 15 primary care centers, three obstetrics/gynecology centers and free school-based dental care facilities. Glens Falls Hospital – a 300-bed inpatient facility – offers students exposure to surgery, inpatient medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cancer care. In addition to their clinical work, all three students are currently conducting community projects. Holly Bachilas ’19 is running a smoking cessation program; Sunit Misra ’19 is providing a wellness/fitness curriculum to elementary school children; and Khaled al Tawil ’19 is doing a point-of-care ultrasound activity. Class of 2020 LIC applications are due to OMSE by Sept. 8! Read more about the LIC.
