(APRIL 27, 2024) Lewis First, M.D., chief of pediatrics at the UVM Children’s Hospital and professor and chair of pediatrics at the UVM Larner College of Medicine, wrote about Child Abuse Prevention Month (April) in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise.

First offered tips on:
- Who is at risk for abusing a child?
- How can you suspect abuse may be ongoing?
- What if you suspect a child you know is being abused?

More than one million infants and children are abused or maltreated every year in this country physically, sexually, or emotionally. The earlier abuse can be suspected and stopped, the better the outcome.
