Call for Posters: Mud Season Education Retreat


This is an open invitation to submit a poster about your educational work, innovation, or research at a receptive and welcoming event.  We are seeking poster submissions (whether current or recently presented work) for the 2019 Mud Season Education Retreat. This will be an opportunity for UVM LCOM educators to share ideas and to collaborate across departments. We are particularly interested in work related to the education of professionals across the continuum of learners. We will consider posters you have presented at previous venues, other than Teaching Academy events. 

The Mud Season Education Retreat is Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Doubletree. The poster session is in the morning, with additional poster viewing at lunch time. Please submit your poster proposal to Amanda.Broder@med.uvm.edu. The deadline for poster submissions is February 1, 2019. Click here to download the submission form.. In addition, authors may elect to receive peer review and feedback on their poster(s).

Frymoyer Scholars Program Call for Proposals 2019

We want to call your attention to an important educational opportunity that is available to faculty involved in teaching our students--the Frymoyer Scholars Program. The Frymoyer Scholars Program supports physicians and nurses who are actively engaged in teaching University of Vermont medical and nursing students and who embody the best qualities of the clinician teacher. More details about the program can be found via the website links below. 

 We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity by submitting a proposal. Applications for 2019 are due by March 15, 2019. The program has funded 47 projects over the past 18 years. The results accomplished by Frymoyer Scholars have enhanced the learning experience of our students and improved patient care. We look forward to more award-winning projects this upcoming year.

Teaching Academy Curriculum Development and Educational Scholarship Grant

The Teaching Academy will award a grant to fund projects that foster innovation and improvement in teaching, learning, and educational scholarship.

The Teaching Academy at the Larner College of Medicine sustains and supports an interdisciplinary community of educators who value the scholarship of teaching and learning while facilitating educator development; improve the efficiency and quality of medical education through collaboration and scholarship; and promote an academic environment that increases the value and impact of educators locally, regionally, and nationally.

Teaching Academy Travel Award

The Teaching Academy will award up to three travel awards to support member travel to present educational scholarship or attend professional development events related to the mission of the Teaching Academy.

Team Science in the Context of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice

Regional/National Call for Proposals

IAMSE 2019 Student Grant Applications Now Accepted

Pass this information on to your students: The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is pleased to announce the ScholarRx-IAMSE Student Educational Research Grants Program. All IAMSE student members are eligible to submit a grant proposal. All students will need to have a faculty mentor sign off on the proposal confirming that all policies will be met. Applications are to be submitted on the submission page found here by 11:59 PM Eastern Time on January 15, 2019.

Educational Scholarship Grant Applications Due January 15

The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) wishes to encourage and support scholarship in medical science education, and therefore announces the 2019 educational scholarship grant program. IAMSE will award multiple research grants up to the amount of $5000 for a 2-year grant period. Applications are to be submitted via the online application form here by January 15, 2019.

All information regarding the IAMSE Educational Scholarship Grant, including the application process, eligibility, proposal format, and evaluation criteria can be found on the IAMSE website here.

Application Open: LEAD Certification Program

The AAMC is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 LEAD Certificate Program. Designed for early to mid-career faculty, LEAD is a one-year, cohort-based program that provides a firm foundation in the best practices and theoretical models of effective educational leadership that are key to advancing medical education at all levels.     WPTZ NBC5 News highlighted remarks made by Jan Carney, M.D., M.P.H., UVM associate dean for public health at a December 11 vigil organized by Gun Sense Vermont. Rebecca Bell, M.D., UVM assistant professor of pediatrics also spoke at the event, which was held in remembrance of all the people whose lives have been changed by gun violence in all of the 50 states.
