(JUNE 1, 2023) Andrew Solomon, M.D., associate professor of neurological sciences and chief of UVM’s Multiple Sclerosis Division, explained why multiple sclerosis (MS) is still frequently misdiagnosed in this era of advanced diagnostic tools, and what can be done to improve diagnostic accuracy, at his opening lecture at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) June 1 in National Harbor, Maryland, NeurologyLive reported. “I have misdiagnosed MS,” he admitted, discussing the difficulty of pinpointing the diagnosis in a condition with nonspecific and sometimes absent clinical symptoms, variable radiologic findings, multiple mimics, and a heterogeneous patient population.
