The Science

What is Positive Parenting?

It is a focus on developing a strong, committed relationship between parents and children based on effective commutation and mutual respect.

It has been shown to improve relationships and help both parents and children regulate feelings such as anger, frustration, sadness and fear.
When children are not listening or behaving in a negative manner, our instincts may lead us to lecture or punish. Programs that teach specific skills such as paying more attention to positive behaviors and reinforcing these positive behaviors while decreasing hard punishments with less emphasis on negative behaviors have been shown to be the most effective way to handle behavioral issues.
