Overview
The course will provide practical approaches to common problems in hospital medicine informed by experts and the latest evidence.
The target audience is comprised of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and nurses practicing hospital medicine. Some of the clinicians will also be engaged in education, research, quality improvement, and management. The audience may also include hospital medicine program administrators, resident physicians, and medical students with an interest in careers in hospital medicine.
Objectives
• Know updated guidelines in the treatment of acute heart failure
• Have tools to guide inpatient management of patients with opiate use disorder
• Review the inpatient management of cirrhosis
Workshop Information
The workshop will be held at the University of Vermont College of Medicine Sim Lab in Burlington, Vermont.
This hands‐on Ultrasound Skills Workshop is designed to enhance learners’ application of bedside ultrasound techniques and improve procedural skills which incorporate bedside ultrasound. The course will provide didactic instruction and scanning experience of several organ systems in live models, and this year will also include procedure workshops. Each station will include introductory slides provided by experienced faculty, and a faculty to attendee ratio of 1:4 or less.
Accreditation
The Robert Larner College of Medicine at The University of Vermont is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to provide continuing medical education for the healthcare team.
The University of Vermont designates this live activity for a maximum of 15.5 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 11 Nursing Contact Hours.
Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
Please note: If you do not participate in the optional workshop, the conference is accredited for 11 credits.
Fees
Tuition: Register by January 10, 2017 and pay tuition of $425 Physicians; $325 Nurses, Physician Assistants and other health professionals; and $225 for residents and fellows. Fee includes continental breakfast each morning, afternoon refreshments and the welcome reception. The conference syllabus will be available by electronic download in PDF files. You will receive a notification via email a week before the conference that the presentations are available for download. If you prefer, you may choose a printed syllabus binder for an additional $50.
Workshop: $295 for the Ultrasound Workshop (if attending the full conference) $395 (workshop only)
ABIM MOC credit will be offered after successful completion of the evaluation component for an additional fee of $20.
Refunds, minus an administrative fee of $75, will be made only if notice of cancellation is received in writing, by January 20, 2017.
No refunds are possible after that date.
