2016 Florida Travel Winners

Travel Awards

I-Trep offers travel award opportunities to meetings that aid in the development of entrepreneurship.   We currently offer awards to the following meetings:

The Annual NIH SBIR/STTR Conference

This meeting is organized by the NIH SBIR program with the primary goal of attracting biomedical small businesses and training them in SBIR/STTR grant applications. The meeting provides training sessions covering how to write this type of application, animal use, human subjects, etc. They also conduct sessions regarding FDA regulations, intramural NIH resources, and one-on-one mentoring wherein individuals may meet program officers from the different NIH institutes. These very useful meetings are an opportunity familiarize oneself with the NIH personnel.

Regional and National IDeA Meetings

The IDeA program organizes four regional meetings annually as well as a national meeting every other year. NIGMS is a strong advocate of entrepreneurship, with the IDeA program under its umbrella. To foster entrepreneurship in the IDeA states NIGMS mandated a session in entrepreneurship, SBIR/STTR funding opportunities, and NIH resources for each regional and national IDeA meeting. One of the goals of these special sessions is to promote awareness of the SBIR mechanism, familiarize investigators from academia with this funding opportunity, and change the daunting perception regarding biomedical entrepreneurship.
