Education
Our division educates Fellows, Residents and Medical Students with opportunities to participate in research from bench to bedside. All medical Residents have a longitudinal rotation throughout their three years of training, during which time they are exposed to the care of patients with varied rheumatic diseases and experience an efficient, service-oriented and productive outpatient practice.
The Faculty and Fellows collaboratively introduce and teach rheumatology and metabolic bone disease to the 2nd-year Medical Students using active learning and workshops as part of the Vermont Integrated Curriculum. Faculty and Fellows also teach Internal Medicine Residents as part of their annual Academic Half-Day Course.
Dr. Bonita Libman is the Rheumatology Division Chief and Fellowship Program Director. One of her primary activities is the education of Fellows and other trainees in the field of Rheumatology. Dr. Libman has participated in the development of both national and local educational efforts, including the American College of Rheumatology In-Training Examination (in conjunction with the National Board of Medical Examiners), the Vermont Integrated Curriculum Connections course and the Rheumatology section of the MKSAP. Dr. Narandra Bethina is the Associate Fellowship Program Director.
