Academic and Clinical Excellence

Our Department successfully fulfills the clinical, research, and educational mission of the academic medical center. Our full-time clinical faculty is comprised of subspecialists in the field of orthopaedic surgery and in physiatry. Research efforts of the Department have garnered many prestigious honors, as well as funding from the National Institutes of Health. The residency training program is highly sought after and produces well rounded orthopaedic surgeons who enter academia or the private sector with equal facility.

Faculty in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation are involved in educating medical students and residents in orthopaedics, physical medicine and rehabilitation and other specialties.  Undergraduate and graduate students in areas that include athletic training and physical therapy, and community physicians across the region through outreach and continuing medical education.

The McClure Musculoskeletal Research Center in The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont is committed to understanding many different musculoskeletal injuries and various disorders. Professionals from orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy, and biomedical engineering work together on a variety of research studies.
