July 27, 2023; 8-9am; Teaching Academy Suite

Would you like to survey LCOM Medical Students?

Please keep in mind that surveys intended for scholarly research purposes or for gathering data to inform the learning experience and environment must be reviewed and distributed by the Teaching Academy through the LCOM Student Research email.

For more information, write to us at student.research@med.uvm.edu or read about the policy in the Larner Student Handbook.

NEW! Peer Observation of Teaching Program

The Teaching Academy is launching this new program to provide LCOM faculty with voluntary, confidential, and formative feedback on their teaching.

How does it work?
You will complete a brief intake form (see below) with details about the instructional activity you would like to have observed. Peer observations will be arranged by the Teaching Academy and conducted by Academy members.  Ahead of your scheduled session(s) you will receive a Peer Observation of Teaching Overview and Guide, a Form and Coaching Grid to be completed by your Peer Observer before, during, and after your scheduled sessions(s), and reference materials. Observations and all documentation remain between you and your Peer Observer. Peer observation feedback can be included in annual reviews, Teaching Academy portfolios, and promotion dossiers – but that is entirely up to YOU!

What if I just want my teaching materials reviewed?
An additional option you can consider utilizing is a peer review of selected teaching materials (e.g., syllabus, pre-work assignment, slides).

Are there any pre-requisites?
All Peer Observers are required to complete the Recognizing Bias (EverFi) Module training.

What do I need to do to sign up?
Please complete this brief Peer Observation of Teaching Intake Form to begin the process.

Interested in BEING a Peer Observer?
Please contact Amanda Broder to be added to the list.
