Congratulations Teaching Academy Members!
Halle Sobel, MD, Teaching Academy Distinguished Educator and Professor of Medicine, has been selected as Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency beginning in July 2024.
Tom Delaney, PhD, Teaching Academy Master Teacher and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, was appointed to the AAMC Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) Steering Committee.
Katie Huggett, PhD, Teaching Academy Director and Distinguished Educator was elected to the IAMSE 2023-24 Nominating Committee.
Writers Workshop is Back!
This popular Teaching Academy resource is back after a short hiatus! A group of regular Teaching Academy members meets the 3rd Thursday of the month to review and discuss your scholarly work on education topics. Bring work in any stage of development – manuscripts, conference proposals, research proposals, etc. Please sign up at least a week in advance by emailing teaching.academy@med.uvm.edu
Spring Writing Retreat for Medical Educators
Friday, March 22, 2024; 9am-1pm. Are you working on a manuscript? Planning a grant or conference proposal? Do you need time to focus on updates to your CV, personal statement, or teaching portfolio? This half-day retreat will feature dedicated writing time, plus coaching on goal setting, and consultation time with experts on topics such as research design, writing, literature searching, and more. ACE Clinical Faculty Development Series
ACE has developed the Clinical Faculty Development Series based on material published in The Guidebook for Clerkship Directors. The goal of this series is to provide faculty development to medical student educators. By offering this series,
we hope to reach a broader audience of those interested in clinical medical student education, including medical students, residents, fellows, clinical academic and community physicians. You can go back and watch the webinars retroactively and get

Unlocking Success: Strategies for Effective Grant Writing

30, 2023 at 1:30 PM ET. Speakers will offer invaluable
insights into effectively preparing grant proposals and navigating the complex
grant application process with both grantee and funding
agency perspectives represented. Panelists from two institutions, Baylor
College of Medicine and University of Washington School of Medicine will share
their approaches and experiences to applying for grants to sustain their
educational outreach and health career pathway initiatives. This panel will
also include representatives from two funding agencies, National Institutes of
Health (NIH) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) who will
highlight their grant programs related to pathway initiatives and provide
insights into what distinguishes successful applicants in this competitive

IAMSE24 Poster & Oral Abstracts Now Welcomed
The International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE) is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for Poster and Oral presentations for the IAMSE Conference to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from June 15-18, 2024. The IAMSE conference offers opportunities for faculty development and networking, bringing together medical science educators from many professional disciplines and spanning the continuum of health care education. IAMSE 2024 Medical Educator Fellowship Program
Applications for the 2024 Medical Educator Fellowship (MEF) Program are now being accepted! IAMSE is once again offering members and non-members the option of completing the MEF Program 100% virtually, from any location around the globe. The primary goal of the MEF is to support the development of well-rounded healthcare education scholars through a program of targeted professional development and application of learned concepts to mentored research projects. The program is designed for healthcare educators from all backgrounds who wish to enhance their knowledge and productivity as educational scholars.
Please note that as a prerequisite, applicants are required to have completed the Essential Skills in Medical Education (ESME) Program. For more detailed information about the program, please visit the information on our website at http://www.iamse.org/fellowship-program/
