Our Focus
The Redox Biology and Pathology (RBP) Program is focused on investigating the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in normal and disease physiology, developing therapeutic strategies targeting redox dependent pathways in disease, and the development of tools to investigate redox dependent pathways. ROS, long categorized as damaging molecules, play a significant role in normal cell physiology while also supporting the development of numerous disease states. Investigators in the RBP use cell culture, animal models, and human tissue for investigating disease states including asthma, fibrosis, and cancer.
Our mission is to increase our understanding of redox-based mechanisms in the pathology of chronic disease, and to develop novel diagnostic tools to assess redox mechanisms in (patho)biology and new targeted redox-based therapeutic strategies.
