Faculty Scientist

Training & Education

Dr. Slavik received her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003, where she studied human skin epithelial differentiation.  For postdoctoral research, she worked with Dr. Paula Fives-Taylor and Dr. Keith Mintz at UVM, investigating the invasion of the periodontal bacterium Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans into epithelial cells.  Afterward she worked with Dr. Jeff Bond and Dr. Julie Dragon in the UVM Bioinformatics Shared Resource before joining as a faculty in 2022.
